Rare Large-Scale Desk and Wall Panel by Gio Ponti Italy c. 1949
Eight-drawer desk of ribbon mahogany with sculptural legs and supports. Long, oval-shaped floating top with beveled edge. Matching wall panel with 3 shelves and 2 pivoting storage compartments supported by black painted iron structures. These pieces were produced as part of a collaboration with Egidio Proserpio, who frequently worked with and produced pieces for Ponti, a collection of which was exhibited at the Triennale in 1951.
